FC Kansas City has promoted Huw Williams to the position of Director of Soccer Operations. He will oversee operations of FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League and the Missouri Comets, who won the Major Indoor Soccer League championship last week.

Williams will also continue as FC Kansas City's assistant coach.

“I would like to thank the Likens family (which owns the two teams) for showing the confidence in me by providing this new opportunity,” Williams said in a press release. “I am determined to help continue the success of both teams on and off the fields and will be striving towards further embedding our players and teams within the communities that we represent.”

Williams brings nearly 30 years of experience in soccer administration to this position. Williams has served as coach, club director and technical director of various soccer clubs and has run his own sports marketing and soccer camp business.

Williams will now oversee the front office staff and manage the on-field personnel aspects of both teams. FC Kansas City is preparing for their second season in the NWSL after finishing in a tie for the league's best record last season and an appearance in the NWSL semifinals. The Comets, who play at the Independence Events Center, just completed their 2013-14 season, culminating in the team's first MISL title.
