    Independence
    To the editor:
I would like to state some reasons why I believe Jim Schultz will make an excellent mayor for Independence. I have seen Jim at many city events, and he always presents a great impression for the city.
When there are 5K runs for charitable causes, you will see Jim in attendance, giving support. When the city Health Department and Parks and Recreation have such events as the Park Trot 5K Walk/Run for a healthier Independence, Jim will always be present to support it. When our Bellevista Annex neighborhood had a need for a channel improvement project to control water runoff, Jim as council member at large came on sight to see our needs and was involved in resolving our concerns.
These are just a few places where I’ve seen him in action, but with his involvement with many other functions of the city, such as the budget, contact with city department heads, serving on community boards, building relationships with mayors of near by cities, he has gained extensive experience.
His time as council member at large and as mayor pro tempore have given him the experience to continue moving Independence forward as our next mayor. I believe the other person running for mayor is a fine person, but we need Jim’s experience now, and perhaps her time will come in the future.
