  • The nationally syndicated organ program, Pipedreams on American Public Media, features local organist Jan Kraybill performing Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City. The program airs locally at 9 p.m. March 23 on 91.5 (KANU-FMHD1.) The program “Bach Alive” celebrates J. S. Bach’s birthday, March 21.
The recording comes from Kraybill’s debut recital on the Kauffman Center organ, Jan. 16, 2013. Michael Barone, host of Pipedreams, attended the recital and recorded the live performance. Kraybill describes the debut as “one of the mountaintop performances of my career.”
Jan Kraybill is principal organist for the Dome and Spire Organ Foundation, an affiliate of Community of Christ in Independence, and conservator of the Julia Irene Kauffman Casavant organ at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City.
