The Blue Springs boys golf team had to settle for second place in a season-opening four-school match at the par-72 Blue Springs Country Club Tuesday.
Lee’s Summit North prevailed with 323 as Keaton Black claimed medalist honors with a 76. Blue Springs shot 361, Lee’s Summit 378 and Staley 384.
Jackson Koenig led Blue Springs with an 86. Caleb Hillen shot 89, Steven Shaw 92, Brian Armtrong and Taylor Miller 94 each and Devin Hyman 96 for the Wildcats.
Ian Mathewson shot 79, Parker Davis 83 and Cole Ashley 85 to round out North’s scoring.
GRAIN VALLEY 174, ODESSA 184: Hunter Peterson was the medalist with a 41 at par-36 Adams Pointe Golf Club to lead Grain Valley to the season-opening Missouri River Valley Conference West victory.
“It was good not to play in the snow,” Grain Valley coach Andy Herbert said. “A 174 in the first match is a pretty good place to start, especially with a lot of new faces.”
Cameron Skinner posted 42, Miguel Contreras 45, Kevin Barker 46 and Hunter Rogers 53 for the Eagles.
