PLATTE CITY, Mo. — Gabi Severns scored two second-half goals to lift the Blue Springs girls soccer team into the championship of the Platte County Tournament.

Goalkeeper Lindsey Davis recorded the shutout as the Wildcats downed host Platte County 2-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season and in the tournament.

“I was very happy with the win,” Blue Springs coach Doug McLagan said. “Platte County came out and defended well against us and we didn’t break it down until the second half.

“We were comfortable the whole game, but it took a while to finally break them down.”

Blue Springs plays Staley or Liberty North at 7 tonight in the finals.
