One bad inning marred an otherwise improved showing by the Truman baseball team.
“We hit better and played defense better but we couldn’t get out of the third inning,” Truman coach John Eglich said after his team fell to 0-4 with an 11-5 non-conference home loss to Kearney Friday.
Kearney exploded for seven runs in the third to turn a 3-2 lead into a 10-2 advantage.
Reid Titus had three hits and Rorey Combs singled with two RBIs to lead Truman. Brayden Jensen suffered the loss.
GRAIN VALLEY LOSES TWO: Grain Valley fell to Oak Park 1-0 and Raymore-Peculiar 10-0 in the KC Metro Leadoff Tournament Friday at Legacy Park.
The Eagles conclude tourney play against Blue Springs at 11 a.m. Saturday. Blue Springs also meets Lee’s Summit North at 2 p.m.
North edged Raymore-Peculiar 10-9 and Oak Park 13-12 Friday to even its record at 2-2.
