To the editor:
As a teacher in the Independence School District and a daughter-in-law of Council Member Roxann Thorley, I am supporting my mother-in-law in this election. My mother-in-law has experience and she is very accomplished at getting complex matters done in the city of Independence. The city needs her leadership capabilities. She is very dedicated at her current position, and she has been visiting with people every day, walking from home to home, wanting to hear the voice of the people. No matter if is 25 degrees to 70 degrees, she is out talking with the community.
Not only is she a great representative for the city, but she is a loving parent and grandparent who thinks of family first before herself. She is dedicated to all of her grandchildren’s sports activities and always supports them in what they do, from volleyball to basketball to dance. I consider her a mother figure in my eyes; I take her opinions and wisdom to heart, and always seek her advice.
She is dedicated not only to her grandchildren but takes time out of her day to volunteer at the elementary school in Independence where I teach. She works with students, attends student council meetings, and helps with a current project that students are working on for the Reviving House for Independence teachers struggling with cancer.
I know she will continue to represent our city well and hope that the citizens will recognize the leadership of Roxann Thorley and return her as a member to our City Council.
