Lake Tapawingo voters on Tuesday easily approved three measures city officials say are badly needed for city operations, including water service and paying off some old bills.

Question 1, a general fund tax levy rate increase to the maximum $1 per $100 of assesed valuation for city services and operations, passed 78.59 percent to 21.41 percent. That money is for basic services such as police, civil court, and water and sewer service.

Question 2, a 30-cent increase in the tax levy rate above the $1 level for four years to retire past debt, passed 75.74 percent to 24.26 percent. Alderman William R. Young has said that’s need to pay back money borrowed to replace water and sewer equipment that went out and to pay the federal government for a payroll tax liability.

Question 3, $2.6 million in general obligation bonds for repairs to water lines and fire hydrants, passed 77.15 percent to 22.85 percent.
