Host Blue Springs had it easy with Belton, sweeping the Pirates 9-0 to improve its record to 3-2.

Mitchell Wilholt 10-0, Sam Phillips 10-0, Blake Summers 10-2, Spencer Morgan 10-2, Jordan Young 10-3 and Alden Martin 10-0 were Blue Springs singles winners. They combined for three 10-0 doubles decisions.

“It gives the team some confidence going into the next match,” Blue Springs coach Jody McClain said. “They are finding ways to improve.”

Blue Springs also was an easy 9-0 junior varsity winner.

BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 6, PARK HILL SOUTH 3: Visiting Blue Springs South used two doubles victories to clinch the victory.

“(We) had a tough match today,” South coach Nathan Mooney said. ”Our biggest struggle this season has been finishing off matches. Today, five of our nine matches we finished strong. It’s good seeing the guys improve from match to match.”

Paul Province 10-6, Eric Horn 11-10 (7-4), José Garchitorena 10-4 and Dalton Michael 10-3 were the singles winners. Provence and Michael 10-0, and Horn and Garchitorena 10-2 posted the doubles victories.

South claimed an 8-1 junior varsity victory.

GRAIN VALLEY 8, HARRISONVILLE 1: Five singles victories sparked host Grain Valley to the Missouri River Valley Conference West decision.

Grain Valley singles winners were Cody Zeigler 8-2, Chris Eubank 9-0, Jordan Snyder 8-1, Dayton Thurn 8-2 and T.J. Drabik 8-1. Zeigler and Eubank 9-0, Snyder and Chase Timmons 9-8 and Thurn and Drabik 8-5 were the doubles winners as the Eagles improved to 2-1 in the conference.

“It was a good match,” Grain Valley coach Mary Elliott said. “They played well.”
