  • Four new Eagles for Troop 206

  • Four Boy Scouts from Troop 206 have attained the elite rank of Eagle Scout. They are Ty Murphy, Adam Dickmeyer, Austin Shearer and Samuel Henson. Their Eagle Court of Honor will be 2 p.m. April 27 at Susquehanna Baptist Church, 17800 E. Susquehanna Ridge in Independence.
    • Ty Murphy, the son of Ricky and Teddi Murphy of Independence, is a sophomore at Fort Osage High School. He began his scouting career with Pack 206 in 2005, where he earned the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 206 in 2009. He has held the leadership positions of Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Scribe, and Troop Quartermaster. He has earned 34 merit badges.
    He has been to H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation as a camper for 5 years. Ty is a warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and an Ordeal Member in the Order of Arrow.
    For his Eagle Project, he led a team of Scouts and youth in scrapping, power washing, and painting all the baseball and softball dugouts at the Fort Osage Baseball Complex for the F.O.I.A.A. League. He earned his Eagle Rank on Dec. 5, 2013.
    Ty has been on the Wrestling and Baseball Teams the last two years, where he has earned a Scholar Athletic Letter. He is in National Honor Society and carries a 4.0 GPA.
    • Adam Dickmeyer, the son of Mark and Michelle Dickmeyer of Sibley, is a senior at Fort Osage High School. He began his scouting career with Pack 206 in 2005, where he earned the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 206 in 2007. He has held the leadership positions of Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Junior Assistant Scout Master. He has earned 34 merit badges.
    He has been to H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation as a camper for 6 years and as a staff member there for 3 years. Adam is a Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and a Brotherhood Member in the Order of Arrow.
    For his Eagle Project, Adam designed, planned, and led a team of scouts that built three large landscaping areas at the Pleasant Valley Senior Citizen Housing Complex in Buckner. They removed the old landscaping, built new boxes, and planted trees, shrubs, and ornamental bushes in the new landscaping areas. Adam earned his Eagle Rank on May 2, 2013.
    Adam is a Varsity Letter Holder at Fort Osage High School in football. He is also an officer in the FFA organization, where he carries a 3.0 GPA.
    • Austin Shearer, the son of Scott and Miranda Shearer of Independence, is a senior at Fort Osage High School. He began his scouting career with Pack 492 in 2005, where he earned the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 492 in 2007, and transferred to Troop 206 in 2012. He has held the leadership positions of Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Troop Scribe, Senior Patrol Leader, and has been a Den chief. He has earned the Den chief Service Award, the World Conservation Award, and has earned 31 merit badges.

    For his Eagle Project, Austin designed, planned, and led a team of scouts in building animal enclosures for Burr Oaks Conservation Area. Austin earned his Eagle Rank on Aug. 3, 2013.
    • Samuel Henson, the son of Alan and Ann Henson of Independence, is a senior at Fort Osage High School. He began his scouting career with Pack 206 in 2003, where he earned the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 206 in 2007. He has held the leadership positions of Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Troop Scribe. He has earned 30 merit badges.
    He has been to H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation as a camper for 4 years. Sam is a Brave in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and a Brotherhood Member in the Order of Arrow.
    For his Eagle Project, Sam planned and led a team of scout on the refurbishment to the exterior of the announcer's tower at the Fort Osage High School Soccer Field. Sam earned his Eagle rank on Jan. 9, 2014.
    Sam is a 2 year Varsity Letter holder for the Fort Osage High School Soccer team.
