Grain Valley’s boys and girls track teams dominated their home invitational Thursday. The girls topped the eight-team field with 190 points, 50 more than runner-up Pleasant Hill. Oak Grove was eighth in the 31. The Eagle boys totaled 185 points, with Pleasant Hill edging Oak Grove for second 112-106 in the seven-team field.
Wins for Grain Valley’s girls came from Chelsea Gabriel in the 100-meter hurdles (15.22) and 300 hurdles (49.94), the 4x100 relay of Kayla McCormick, Sarah Turner, Jordan Dodson and Gabriel (52.67), the 4x400 relay of McCormick, Claire Rose, Dodson and Gabriel (4:22.75), the 4x800 relay of Jessica Jaenson, Rose, Lexi Allen and Kayla Sanning (10:40), Hannah Jones in the triple jump (31 feet, 5 inches) and Tori Squiers in the shot put (32-5).
Seconds came from Dodson in the 400 (1:03.59), Rose in the 800 (2:37.72), the 4x200 relay (1:53.79) and Jones in the long jump (14-7).
Sophie Heldenbrand finished third in both hurdle events to pace Oak Grove.
In the boys meet, Grain Valley wins came from Daniel Mahurin in the 400 (52.38), Michael Pellham in the 800 (2:08), Trezelle Ray in the 300 hurdles (44.35), the 4x400 relay of José Doubledee, Mahurin, Hunter Ramirez and Pellham (3:40.9), the 4x800 relay of Mahurin, Preston Weigel, Ethan Lasley and Pellham (8:32.2) and Zach Clark in the high jump (5-8).
Seconds for the Eagles came from Clark in the 100 (11.25), Nate Vanderpool in the 200 (23.9), Weigel in the 3,200 (10:46.37), Ray in the 110 hurdles (15.51), the 4x100 relay (45.03), the 4x200 relay (1:36.38), Blake Lacey in the high jump (5-8), Clark in the long jump (20-1 1/2) and Lacey in the triple jump (38-10).
Oak Grove winners included Aaron Graham in the 100 (10.83) and long jump (22-1 1/2), Jacob Ledger in the 200 (23.42), Garrett Cross in the 1,600 (4:51.11), Skyler Hulse in the 110 hurdles (14.91) and quartet of Hulse, Graham, Ethan Fugitt and Ledger in the 4x100 (44.9) and 4x200 (1:35.5).
