A pair of local nurses were awarded scholarships by Western Governors University Missouri on Tuesday. Independence resident Krystle Logston and Grain Valley resident Cara Snyder were each awarded a $2,000 "Nurses Lead the Way" scholarship. The scholarships were created in celebration of National Nurses Week this week and are designed encourage licensed RNs to earn their bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing. Logston, who works at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, is pursuing her master’s in nursing education. Snyder, who works at the VA Hospital in Kansas City, is pursuing her MBA in health care management.
