A benefit concert featuring country and gospel music by “Strack's Strummers” will be presented at 6 p.m. May 17 at Oakland United Methodist Church, 30701 E Truman Road, Buckner.
Admission is by free-will donation, with the proceeds going to assist Aaron Price and his parents, Tom and Donna of Blue Springs, with the expenses of a major home remodel, the equipment required to accommodate Aaron's everyday needs, and the purchase of a conversion van to provide Aaron with transportation for extensive physical therapy.
Last January, Aaron was returning to Columbia after spending winter break with his family in Blue Springs. His pick-up hit black ice on I-70, rolling several times. He suffered a critical spinal cord injury, causing paralysis of his body below his shoulders, necessitating a power-chair for mobility, a lift, a special bed and round-the-clock support. He sustained no head injuries and does have limited use of his right shoulder and forearm. His spirit and his faith aid him as he rises to meet the challenges before him in planning to complete his education and live as independently as possible.
In addition to great fellowship and live music, CD's recorded by “The Circuit-Riders”, another local gospel group, and refreshments will also be available for a donation. Weather-permitting, the concert will be held outdoors, so bring you lawn chair.
