Blue Springs South is the Suburban Big Six boys tennis champion for the fourth consecutive year.
A tight 5-4 victory over Liberty Friday clinched the title for the Jaguars.
Paul Province (6-4, 6-4), Jared Martin (6-1, 2-6, 10-8), Nic Mandina (6-2, 6-4) and Dalton Mitchell (6-0, 6-3) won in singles for South. José Garchitorena and Martin teamed up for a 6-3, 6-0 win in No. 2 doubles to clinch the win and the conference title.
“I’m so proud of these guys,” South coach Nathan Mooney said. “They all played such great matches and came to play today. To be able to win conference for the fourth year in a row is pretty sweet, especially for the seniors who have won it now since they have been on a the team.
“The guys have been looking forward to this match since they lost to Liberty in early April in the Mid-Mo Tournament in Columbia.”
Liberty took the junior varsity match 6-3.
