  • Vaile Mansion holds Strawberry Festival

  • The Vaile Mansions annual Strawberry Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 on the grounds of the Mansion, 1500 N. Liberty St., Independence.
    There will be more than 600 pounds of strawberries served in shortcake, ice cream and floats. A variety of snacks, such as hot dogs, turkey sandwiches, soft drinks and kettle corn are also available. There will also be more than 100 booths full of antiques, crafts and flowering plants.
    Free entertainment includes live fiddle accordion, the Spirit of Independence Concert Band, ballet dancers and the 1859 Missouri Town Dancers. Carriage rides are also available for $5 for adults and $3 for children. Explore the Mansion for $6 for adults and $3 for children.
    If you would like to rent a booth to sell your wares, the cost is $50 for a 13 X 13 space (electricity not provided). For more information about booth rental, call 816-325-7430.
