    To the editor:
Breaking news! On Friday, May 16, approximately 12,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Crews and their adult leaders of (wait for it) diverse social economic class, religions and ethnicity descended upon the Kansas Speedway for a two-night, three-day campout.
There, the scouts had the opportunity to scuba dive, ride go carts, zip line, earn merit badges, learn about robotics and the auto industry. There was a demonstration from the highway patrol on what happens when you roll a vehicle and are not wearing a seatbelt. You could see what it was like to weld with an actual welder or by virtual reality, or you could learn to lay brick and mortar.
The Army National Guard was there along with local fire departments and displays from various law enforcement entities. They got to attend a NASCAR event by the Richard Petty Driving School, attend a concert and a plethora of other activities.
What was not there were shootings, stabbings, mob violence, theft or other acts of stupidity. Nor was there an army of armed law enforcement to prevent such from happening. Actually, the only law enforcement truly present were those who had a display of sorts. Why? I said it in the first paragraph: It was Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing Crews, and their adult leaders. Further explanation not needed.
