To the editor:
I’m responding to Barbara Young’s “A quick query” about the Bible describing Jesus as creator. Many people would probably be surprised to know that Jesus is indeed described as creator in numerous passages throughout the Bible. Colossians 1:13-20 describes all things being created by and through Christ. “The word” described in John 1 is undoubtedly referring to the person of Christ who was not only “in the beginning” with God, but was directly involved in the creation of all things: “All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:3, English Standard Version).
I was surprised that this question about Jesus was the question Barbara picked to ask, considering the original guest column, “Filthy book just one big problem in our schools,” was more concerned with the corruption of basic morality in our school systems.
As a 2013 graduate of Blue Springs High School myself, I was fortunate to learn in an environment where I could share my opinion and hear others opinions without persecution from teachers and faculty. Unfortunately, it looks like upcoming students holding religious views will face rough waters in the next few years, an example being my younger brother who has experienced more, in a bad way, than I ever did at his age. What we need is continual prayer for our nation, that God would restore and give wisdom to us all.
