What advice do you have for next year’s freshmen?
Never give up on your dreams, whether they be small or large. Even if you think you can’t do something or won’t do well at it, try anyway.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher at Truman would have to be my art teacher, Ms. Luzader. Not only has she taught me so much in the field of art and has helped me grow as an individual - as well as an artist - she is a wonderful woman who cared about all of her students. She also encouraged me to join my school’s National Art Honor Society, which has been the best part of high school for me. I will never forget her.
When you were not in school or studying, what did you enjoy doing?
I loved to play soccer, as well as paint and draw.
What college do you plan to attend and why?
I’m going to UMKC. It’s a well-known school and while I’m not exactly sure what to major in, I know they’ll help find my way. But I want to do something in art.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
I’m going to be honest and say I don’t know, but I hope to be expressing my creativity to the community/country/world through art.
