In observance of Flag Day on June 7, Jackson County Parks and Recreation is holding a special program devoted to the history and traditions of the American flag at Fort Osage National Historic Landmark, 107 Osage St., Sibley. Presented at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., this presentation includes a representative display of flags from different periods of American history.
A special segment will provide information on how to preserve your heirloom flag and proper flag etiquette. Witness the formal lowering of the 15 star garrison flag at 4 p.m. in the redoubt.
