Jackson County Parks and Recreation is holding their Children’s Day and National Trails Day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 7 at Missouri Town 1855, 8010 E. Park Road, Lee’s Summit (Fleming Park).
There will be gunnysack races, stilts, tug-of-war, marbles and more time honored classics. Special craft projects, such as rope making and tin punching, will give children a take-home memento. Every child is a winner in an old-fashioned pie eating contest; the Missouri Town musicians and dancers will provide entertain; and Missouri Town’s 1-year-old ox team will show off their learned skills under the command of the drover. Dr. Field’s “Good Medicine Show” will also feature magic tricks.
In observance of National Trails Day, a special exhibit will provide information about Jackson County’s Biking and Hiking Trails System.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 5 to 13, and children under 5 are free.
