  • Independence Post 21 bounced back in a big way Tuesday night.
    After suffering a 10-7 loss to the Lee’s Summit Post 189 Pirates in the first game of a Zone 2 West American Legion doubleheader at Crysler Stadium, Post 21 rode a 13-hit attack to a 9-2 victory.
    Ben Hellon pitched the win. Cody Gregory had three singles, Myles Odom, James Curtin, Nico Pike (2 RBIs) and Matt Hughes two singles each and Tyler Cross and Justin Madsen a two-run single each for Post 21, and Ben Hellon pitched the win. Post 21 improved to 4-7 and 3-3, and the Pirates fell to 2-7 and 1-1.
    “The bats were clocking and the pitching was solid,” Post 21 manager Tim Madsen said. ‘We also had no errors.”
    SEDALIA POST 642 12-12, INDEPENDENCE VFW POST 1000 2-1: The Travelers swept Wednesday’s non-zone doubleheader from the Bears.
