SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Blue Springs Rod’s Sports A’s are off to good start in the Sioux Falls Tournament. The team picked up an 11-6 victory in Game 1 and a 5-3 win in Game 2 during a doubleheader against Sioux Falls West Friday.

A trio of three-run innings and a potent offensive attack lifted the A’s to a victory in the first game. David Stober pitched 3-2/3 innings in relief of Corbin Hare for the victory.

Stober also had four hits, including a triple and double and he drove in three runs. Hare had two singles, two doubles and four RBIs, Nate Carlton added two singles, Jeremy Lufft contributed three singles, scored four runs and drove in one and Ramon Rivera tacked on two singles and a RBI.

A four-run second inning, highlighted by Hare’s two-run single, led the A’s to victory in the nightcap. Lufft and Stober also drove in runs in the fourth amd Jared Lafal singled in the fifth run in the seventh inning.

Alex VanZandt tossed five innings for the victory. Jonathan Fink worked the final two for a save.

The A’s will play a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday, and will likely play a fifth Sunday.
