Fiesta Filipina, presented by the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City, will take place from noon to 8 p.m. June 14 and noon to 6 p.m. June 15 at the Filipino Cultural Center, 9810 W. 79th St., Overland Park.
This two-day festival has authentic Filipino food, cultural dances, live music, exhibits, and games to commemorate Philippine Independence. Fiesta Filipina dates back to 1975 when former Mayor Charles Wheeler officially declared Filipino Week in Kansas City, and has grown to become an annual event. Admission is free.
The Filipino Association is a not-for-profit, non-political, and non-sectarian organization established to preserve, promote, and enhance Filipino culture through education and cultural arts, and to provide service to the community at-large through its projects and programs.
