  • Fledging church holding a carnival
A free community carnival is being held today (June 14) at Van Horn High School by the football field.
It’s being presented by the Revive Church, which is described as a community movement to “revitalize and re-energize” northwest Independence from the outside in.
Alex and Kristin Gilpin are the leaders of Revive and will be at the carnival to meet the people in the community.
The carnival is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the football at Van Horn, 1109 S. Arlington Ave., Independence. It includes a bounce house, free haircuts, soccer games, face painting and free hot dogs.
The Gilpins say the Revive Church envisions serving the needs of the community first, with plans to formally organize and assemble in a four-walled, brick and mortar place of worship, to follow.
For more information about the church or the carnival, contact Alex Gilpin at gilpinalex13@gmail.com  or 316-259-9239.
