The Lee’s Summit Post 189 Pirates improved to 6-14 overall and 3-4 in Zone 2 play with Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep of the Independence VFW Post 1000 Bears. The Pirates won 12-1 and 13-0 at the Independence Athletics Complex, the latter game lasting just five innings.

Jared Snook went five innings on the mound to get the win in the first game, and Dillon Howell slugged a pair of doubles and tallied five RBIs. Howell went four innings for the game two win, and Austin Buhr rapped a pair of triples.

The Bears fell to 5-16 and 2-10.

LEE’S SUMMIT POST 189 OUTLAWS 10, INDEPENDENCE POST 21 1: The Outlaws completed a Zone 2 West sweep of Post 21 at Crysler Stadium Tuesday night.

Alec Schuler was the winning pitcher, and Dalton Woods led an 11-hit attack two doubles and a single with one RBI. Seth Soto added two hits and two RBIs and Brett Conrow a double and four RBIs.

A five-run fifth inning sealed the win for the Outlaws (20-9, 9-2), which won the first game 4-0 as Conrow pitched a shutout.

Post 21 fell to 7-13 and 6-6. Tyler Cross and Cody Gregory had two hits apiece, and Tanner Stone suffered the loss.
