Sermon series on Ten Commandments

First Christian offers community breakfast
A community breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday (June 28) at the First Christian Church, 125 S. Pleasant St., Independence.

What is Christ’s mission for us?
Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton will draw from Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:6-8 and preach on “Principles, Practices and Christ’s Mission” this weekend at the United Methodist Chuch of the Resurrection.
The church, based in Leawood, has a campus at 601 E. Jefferson, Blue Springs. Worship is at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Nursery care for children from birth through age 3 is available, and Sunday school is for children age 4 through the fifth grade during services. Fourth of July events at First Christian in Independence
The Phil and Pam Morgan Family will sing, witness and proclaim God’s word at 6 p.m. July 4 at Independence First Christian, 125 S. Pleasant St.
The church, established on July 4, 1835, will celebrate its 179th birthday along with the nation’s Independence Day. The Morgan family will conduct a gospel music and patriotic concert that promises to be an inspirational.

Free clinic coming up
Glenwood Park Methodist Church will hold a free health clinic from 9 a.m. to noon July 5.
The church, at 10000 E. 23rd St., Independence, holds the clinics on the first Saturday of the month. The screenings, sponsored by the Black Nurse Association and the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index testing.

Eight-week study of the Wesleyan perspective
