  • A lesson in cultural diversity

  • The Truman Medical Center Professionals in Behavioral Health Seminar, in collaboration with Mental Health America of the Heartland, present Deborah White Eye, LCSW, LSCSW, Ethnicity and Cultural Awareness Specialist. This event will take place from 7:45 to 9 p.m. July 15 at Lakewood Counseling, Phoenix Conference Room, 300 S.E. 2nd St., Lee's Summit.
    Dee is from Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, and her background as an American Indian has led her interest in cultural awareness.
    Learning objectives:
    • Explore new ways of thinking about trauma and different approaches to addressing this experience from a multicultural-social justice perspective.
    • Distinguish American Indian healing from most traditional Western counseling theories.
