UMKC sophomore James Barnett made a respectable showing at the U.S. Junior Outdoor Championships.
Barnett, a Blue Springs High School graduate, finished 11th in the 5,000-meter run. He clocked a time of 15 minutes, 4.38 seconds in the meet this week at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Barnett’s UMKC teammate, Bryce Miller, earned a spot on the U.S. squad for the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:04.4.
