A woman's leg was caught underneath a log while she was swimming at Blue Springs Lake Saturday, resulting in an injury.
Central Jackson County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Eddie Saffell said the woman was swimming in Blue Springs Lake off a boat near Woods Chapel and Liggett roads in the evening hours. The victim's leg somehow became stuck underneath a log from the lake's floor, and it prevented her from boarding the boat. Saffell said that she managed to keep her head above water while holding on the boat.
CJC, Lee's Summit Fire and Lee's Summit Underwater Rescue and Recovery all arrived at the scene to free the victim's leg around 5 p.m. Saffell said the woman suffered serious tissue damage to her leg and was taken to a local hospital.
No other information was available on how the woman's leg became stuck on the log or her current condition.
