  • A Lee’s Summit North High School graduate is one of four Tigers chosen for the media’s 2014 Preseason All-SEC Team.
University of Missouri junior kicker Andrew Baggett, a former Examiner All-Area selection, was chosen for the third team in the squad chosen by the media at the SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala., this week.
Baggett led Mizzou with 120 points last season, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history. He converted 18 of 25 field goal attempts and 66 of 69 PATs.
Mizzou senior defensive end Markus Golden was a second-team pick on the defensive line.
Former Lee’s Summit West High School star Evan Boehm, a junior center, and junior tailback Marcus Murphy joined Baggett on the third team. Boehm, the first lineman in Kansas City history to win the Simone Award as the top player in the metro area, started all 14 games at center last season, helping Mizzou’s rushing offense (237.9 yards per game) finish ranked second in the SEC and 16th nationally.
Murphy made it as a return specialist. He has four career return touchdowns (3 kickoff and 1 punt) and his 3,191 career all-purpose yards are eighth in Mizzou history entering this season.
Mizzou opens its season 2:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at Faurot Field against South Dakota State.
