The Blue Springs Historical Society is sponsoring a Patriotic Benefit Concert at 7 p.m. July 25 to honor our veterans and active servicemen/women. The concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S.W. Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs.
The well-known local men's group, “Men of Praise”, directed by Carolyn Gordanier, will perform patriotic songs to honor. The Sons of the American Revolution will present the American flag in full dress uniform, and Mayor Carson Ross will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Tickets include a free picnic of hot-dogs and chips as long as they last from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., at the church. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 per person, $25 for a family. Veterans and servicemen/women will be admitted free.
An American flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol will be offered in a silent auction. Eight raffle baskets are also featured at $1 per ticket, 6 tickets for $5, or 12 tickets for $10. Raffle items include a golf basket, ladies pamper basket, Mickey Mouse basket, Disney Princess basket, and many more. Winners will be announced during the concert.
Proceeds from the concert will help fund restoration of local historic buildings.
