The South Independence Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of August. The library is located at 13700 E. 35th St. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-461-2050.

• First Grade Jitters, for families with children 5 and older, 2 p.m. Aug. 1. Kindergarten is a piece of cake, but what about first grade? Jo Ho will calm those moving-on jitters with silly songs and stories that will leave kiddos asking, “When does school start?”

• Homeschooling 101, for adults, 7 p.m. Aug. 4. Are you thinking about homeschooling, but don’t know how to get started? An experienced home educator will examine the benefits of teaching children and teens at home, explain Missouri law, and discuss curriculum options. Information about local support groups and opportunities will be shared.

• Teen Anime Movie Night, 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6. Call to see which movie is showing.

• Teens at the Library, 2 p.m. Aug. 20. Make crafts, watch movies, play games and more.
