The “Talkin’ Truman” series today takes up spies during the Cold War.
The event, “Spies and Subversives in the Dawn of the Atomic Age,” is at 11 a.m. at the Truman Library on U.S. 24 in Independence.
The speaker is Sam Rushay, the library’s supervisory archivist. He will discuss the era of the 1940s and ’50s in which the county was caught up in domestic securty concerns and fears of communist subversion.
The event is free with admission to the library, which is $8 for adults.
