Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey is committed to a five year symposia project that will focus attention on fostering awareness of issues of diversity at the local, regional, national and international level. The featured speakers will share their contributions to American cultural arts and give important insights on race, diversity and success.
The symposium will be held Sept. 4 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. There will also be a Roving Reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Black Archives of Mid America, The Blue Room and Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey. A free community Town Hall meeting will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the The Gem Theater, with panelists from the symposium discussing “Race, Place and the Importance of Diversity.”
