  • A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for anyone who has information leading to an arrest of the person involved in the Aug. 20 armed robbery that occurred at Dingledine Insurance, 16012 E. 23rd St. in Independence.
Independence Police revealed surveillance photos that show a suspect vehicle and a person of interest. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver car caught by a surveillance camera at the Backyard Burger parking lot on the day of the crime. That restaurant is one block west of the crime scene.
At 1:59 p.m. on Aug. 20, police said a man walked into the Dingledine Insurance Group, where he “talked for a minute, pulled out a gun and demanded money.” A woman with the insurance agency was shot in the leg when she did not comply, police said. The suspect escaped through the insurance office’s front door and was last seen on South Trail Ridge Drive.
Police described the male suspect as being in his 40s or 50s, wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, a dark blue shirt with the word "ALLERGEN" (a medication name) imprinted on the front and khaki pants.
Anyone with any possible information in reference to either the person of interest, the crime that was committed at the insurance office or the suspect vehicle, is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
