COLUMBIA, Mo. — It was tough day for the Blue Springs South girls tennis team as the Jaguars fell 8-1 to Jefferson City and 9-0 to Columbia Rock Bridge Wednesday.
“(We) faced off against two very experienced and talented teams,” South Jake Estep said. “Both matches proved to be a challenge for our girls but they played positive and kept coming back for more. Days like today only make our girls tougher and smarter on the court.”
No. 6 singles player Sierra Mann was the only South winner, 5-7, 6-3 (10-8) against Jefferson City.
LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 9, ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL 0: The Broncos easily improved to 2-0 with Wednesday’s home victory.
Logan Morrissey 10-6, Camryn Parnell 10-0, Jenny Krause 10-2 Beta Lear 10-8, Alexandra Mesias 10-8 and Sarah Welch 10-5 posted North singles victories. Morrissey and Parnell 8-1, Krause and Lear 8-1 and Mesias and Welsh 8-0 were the doubles winners.
“Strong doubles victories set the tone,” North coach Stu Reece said. “Central is a very solid team and will win quite a few matches. I think our experience gave us the advantage.”
