ALLEN, Texas – The Missouri Comets rallied for three late goals to keep their regular-season winning streak alive.
Trailing 6-5 after R.J. Luevano’s goal at the 1:18 mark of the fourth quarter, the Comets scored three times to claim an 8-6 victory over the Dallas Sidekicks in Major Arena Soccer League action Friday night at Allen Event Center.
John Sosa scored an unassisted goal to tie it and reigning MASL MVP Leo Gibson scored an unassisted goal to put the Comets ahead.
Max Touloute added another unassisted goal for insurance as the Comets improved to 2-0 this season after going 20-0 in the regular season last year.
Touloute finished with four goals as the Comets outshot the Sidekicks 32-25.
Goals by Touloute and Ramone Palmer gave the Comets a 2-1 lead after the first quarter.
Dallas, though, took a 3-2 halftime lead on second-quarter goals by Cody Ellis and Ricardinho Cavalcante.
Paolo Da Silva made it 4-2 Dallas before Kevin Ten Eyck and Touloute answered with unassisted goals to tie it at the 9:24 mark of the second quarter.
Calvacante and Touloute each scored again to send it into the final period tied 5-5.
Comets goalkeeper Boris Pardo made 19 saves on 25 shots to claim the win.
The Comets travel to Harrisburg, Pa., to face the Harrisburg Heat at 6:05 p.m. Saturday night.
