  • The man who once referred to himself as "The Disco Spider" on Community can now do an eight-legged happy dance. Donald Glover will voice a version of one of his boyhood idols, Spider-Man.
Glover is lending his pipes to the Disney XD animated series Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors in the role of Miles Morales, an alternate-universe Spider-Man who is half-black and half-Hispanic, USA Today reports.

Glover will star in an arc that sees original Spider-Man Peter Parker jumping between universes to stop Green Goblin from collecting the DNA of various Spider-Men, including Morales.
The character of Morales first made an appearance in a 2011 comic as a teenager who took up the role of Spider-Man following Peter Parker's death.
Comic writer Brian Michael Bendis cites Glover (in addition to President Barack Obama) as a major influence in creating Morales. Bendis was inspired after Glover—a longtime fan of the web-slinger—donned Spider-Man pajamas in an episode of Community and campaigned to play Spider-Man in the most recent Spider-Man movies.

"Spider-Man is the best because you just don't know who he is, and he's funny and he's poor," Glover told USA Today. "I understand Spider-Man a lot on that level. He's just trying to make it."
The third season of Ultimate Spider-Man, dubbed Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, debuts Sunday at 9 a.m./8c. on Disney XD. Glover's episode will air sometime next year.
