Jeanie Lauer

Many would describe Councilman Jeanie Lauer as a visionary who has long advocated for the continual growth of Blue Springs, one who has played a significant part in that growth through her ability to empower citizens to be active and involved in their communities.
She was elected in April 2008.
In previous years, Lauer served as a member of the City’s Planning Commission, and has worked to advocate for the development and diversity of Blue Springs through the City’s Traffic and TIF Commissions. Most notably, Lauer has served in various community functions including co-chairing the initial Renew the Blue visioning and implementation initiative designed to empower and enable citizens to become more involved in city government and community development issues. Lauer is the founder and owner of The Management Edge, a consulting firm which provides mediation, strategic planning and performance improvement services for area businesses. She has lived in Blue Springs since 1984, where she attends Timothy Lutheran Church and serves on the Personnel Committee. Lauer is the mother of one son Chris.
Sissy Reed

Serving as a Councilman since 1993, Sissy Reed has been a devoted and active member of the Blue Springs community for the past 29 years and has lived in the city since 1973.
Reed has been involved in several aspects of city government over the years and currently serves on the Historic Preservation Commission. Her focus as a councilman centers around the concept of revitalization and restoration.
She is mayor pro-tem and council liaison for the Planning Commission
Her primary goal is to revitalize the older portions of Blue Springs. She is also heavily involved in the efforts to revitalize downtown Blue Springs and encourages the addition of more quality businesses to Main Street.
Reed works as a Real Estate Broker and has been in the real-estate business since 1979. Community activities Sissy is involved in include the Willowbrook Homeowners Association, First Baptist Church, St. Mary’s Auxiliary, Rotary Club, the Blue Springs Business Association and Nelson Friends of Art. Her hobbies include travel and antiques. Reed has two adult children and is a grandmother of three.
Ron Fowler

Ron Fowler has served as a City Councilman since 1992, and has lived in the Blue Springs community since 1986.
Fowler is involved with the School of Economics, which operates in a city-owned facility and serves to educate area youth on money, economics, and functioning independently in the “real world.”
Fowler describes himself as a fiscal conservative and works to maintain a balance in city expenditures. Fowler’s primary goal as a councilman is quality development. He is currently focusing on expediting Adams Dairy Parkway Phase IV construction and annexation to the south.
Fowler is employed at the Lake City Army Ammunitiocn Plant as the Manager of Quality Services. Along with his love of water-related activities, Ron is an avid golfer and cyclist. He has two sons, Ryan and Jeff.
Lyle Shaver

A resident of Blue Springs since 1970, Lyle Shaver has interest and passion for Blue Springs shown by many years of active community service and leadership. He has wide expertise in leadership, strategic planning, financial planning and budgeting, negotiation, organization, project management, problem solving and team building and has spent 40 years in both the corporate and small business environment.
Shaver has been involved in many community activities including the Citizen Advisory Committee, Renew the Blue, Out of the Blue, and StandUp Blue Springs.
He has received awards and recognition including being named Citizen of the Year.
He and his wife Grace have been married for 38 years and have three sons.
Kent Edmondson

Elected to serve as District 2 City Councilman in April 2008, Kent Edmondson has been a Blue Springs resident for 32 years, 22 of which he has lived in the district he is now privileged to serve.
Edmondson has had the opportunity to witness many changes and positive developments in Blue Springs including the expansion and growth along Adams Dairy Parkway and the revitalization of the Missouri 7 north and south corridors.
He has served as a Main Street business owner with Kwik Kopy Printing since 1989, Tune Town DJ Service since 1991 and Roses & Such Distributing since 2006.
Roles in which he has served include: Chamber of Commerce member, Blue Springs Downtown Redevelopment Committee member, Main Center Merchants Committee member and past president of the Blue Springs Rotary Club. Edmondson also served for four years on the Planning Commission and two years on City Council when former Councilman Steve Miller died in 2001.
Edmondson and his wife Sue Ann have been married for 24 years and have three sons and two grandchildren.
Sheila Solon

Sheila Solon was elected to the City Council in April 2007. Prior to her election, Solon has served the community on the Planning Commission for nine years.
In serving the city, she has also worked on the Board of Zoning & Adjustment, Charter Review Committees, the City Area Plan Committee, the Capital Improvements Committee, the Citizens Advisory Committee on Tax Issues, and as the Chairman of the Development Advisory Commission.
Solon is an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She serves on the Hospitality Committee and with United Methodist Women. She has also served as a Sunday school teacher and as the Wee Singers director for six years.
Sheila and her husband, Charlie, have been married for 21 years. They have made Blue Springs their home for more than 16 years. They have two children, Lindsey Solon, a freshman at Northwest University , and Spencer Solon, a Junior at Blue Springs South High School. She is an Account Coordinator with Liz Claiborne Fragrances.
Solon is known for her preparedness, courage and open-minded positive attitude. She looks forward to bringing her common sense and fiscally conservative nature.
