Kansas City Royals great Frank White will be the keynote speaker at the Independence Chamber of Commerce 89th annual banquet.
The event is Jan. 16 at the Hilton Gardens Hotel.
White, a fan favorite, played his entire 18-year career with the Royals. He won eight Gold Gloves at second base and played in five All-Star games. His number – 20 – has been retired and is seen beyond left field wall at Kauffman Stadium along with those of Hall of Famer George Brett (5) and manager Dick Howser (10). The stadium also has a statue of White beyond right field. He works in the Royals front office and does color commentary on televised games.
