An area company is offering a free e-book in honor of Greater Kansas City Financial Fitness Week.
The give-away is a promotional effort, through May 10, to increase awareness of the company, a nationwide, independent financial education company, and its budgeting courses. Essential Knowledge, which is headquartered in Mission, Kan., is offering the booklet "Basic Budgeting," via e-mail.
Graham Moyer, an accredited financial counselor and president of Essential Knowledge, said about 70 percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, with no more than 40 percent of Americans keeping a budget. Moyer said that budgeting helps reduce money-related stress.
A "financial goals worksheet" will help readers get started and offers step-by-step instructions for budgeting. Worksheets include income and daily spending worksheets, assets, inventory and record of liability worksheets.
The booklet also offers information about various spending programs, from savings to money market accounts, certificates of deposit and savings bonds.
To request the book, visit the Essential Knowledge Web site at www.EssentialKnowledge.com. or request a copy of the book via e-mail at info@EssentialKnowledge.com. To learn more about the services available during Financial Fitness Week, visit www.kansascityfed.org/FitnessWeek.
