Book drive to aid assistance council

Books, including children’s, hardback, paperback and cookbooks are being collected to benefit the Grain Valley Assistance Council. No magazines, dictionaries, almanacs, encyclopedias, VCR tapes, text or computer books.


The annual fundraiser will raise funds to help Grain Valley residents with necessities, such as school supplies, gasoline or medical expenses. Bring donations to the Grain Valley Community Center, behind City Hall, 711 Main St. For pick-up, call 816-225-0713.


Book fair is Nov. 13, 14 and 15 at the Historical Society Building, 512 Main St. On Nov. 13, an advance sale will be held for $20 entrance fee. Book prices range from 10 cents to $10. Left-over books will be donated to Books for the Planet, which sends books to needy people worldwide.
