Buckner business
converts to franchise
A 25-year-old Buckner heating and cooling company is becoming part of a franchise.
Temp-Rite Heating & Cooling will become One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning. Owner Steve Kurtz said the switch should be complete in about two months. Kurtz will continue to own and operate the business under the umbrella of the corporate office, Clockwork Homes Services, Inc., which owns the One Hour name.
The business will stay at at 203 Hudson St.
Veterinary hospital
earns accreditation
The American Animal Hospital Association recently granted accreditation to Ericson Veterinary Hospital, 1000 N.W. South Outer Road, Blue Springs. The accreditation follows a quality assessment review of the hospital’s facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health care management.
About 15 percent of small animal veterinary practices throughout the country have earned accreditation through the group.
All-green baby store
opens in Lee’s Summit
Happybottomus is a baby store featuring organic products, such as clothing and toys, cloth diapers and biodegradable diapers. The store, at 225 S.E. Douglas St. in downtown Lee’s Summit, also features BPA-free bottles. Call 816-875-4617.
Grants available
through Realtors
The Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors will award $100,000 to local nonprofit organizations throughout the year through the Realtor Centennial Grant Program in honor of 100 years in existence. The Real Estate Board of Kansas City was one of the first such boards in the country and one of 15 founding members of the national association in 1908.
The grants will be awarded in September. Members of the Kansas City association are invited to nominate nonprofits with which they are personally involved. A grant selection committee will choose 10 organizations to honor with awards.
