Tim McGraw & Faith Hill rehearsing for tonight’s event

The East Coast may be shivering under two feet of snow, but at least part of the West Coast was apparently on fire tonight as what sounds like a phenomenal event unfolded in tribute to this year’s MusiCares “Person of the Year,” Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen himself jumped up during the charity auction and added an hour-long guitar lesson, a ride in the sidecar of his Harley, and some of his mother’s homemade lasagna (!) to the autographed guitar that was up for bidding, cajoling the “one-percenters” in the crowd until finally somebody bought the package for a cool $250K. Apparently if the rockstar thing doesn’t work out, Bruce has a great career ahead of him as an auctioneer.

The Springsteen family (including mama Adele), most of the E Street Band, and a lot of industry luminaries, A-list stars, and very lucky fans then settled in to enjoy what sounds like it must have been an incredible tribute concert. We’re all hoping that a DVD will be released at some point; meanwhile, read the setlist (thanks to those fortunate attendees who were kind enough to tweet out the updates) and weep…
