Official statement from Chiefs Chairman & CEO Clark Hunt...

"The entire Chiefs family is deeply saddened by today's events, and our collective hearts are heavy with sympathy, thoughts and prayers for the families and friends affected by this unthinkable tragedy. We sincerely appreciate the expressions of sympathy and support we have received from so many in the Kansas City and NFL communities, and ask for continued prayers for the loved ones of those impacted."

We will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities and work to ensure that the appropriate counseling resources are available to all members of the organization."

Reality! Life doesn’t distinguish between football and what people deal with each day. Tragic, how do you put this situation into words? Losing a family member myself to suicide, this brings back feelings that are very hard to understand and difficult to digest.

Emotions you never quite get over, but stick with you.

The real tragedy is the young lady that was taken from her family by Jovan Belcher who then turned the gun on himself in front of Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel near fellow players at the Chiefs facility.

Chief fans, suddenly record (stats, banners and paper sacks) and EVERYTHING doesn’t matter, but it’s about two young people now that are permanently gone. Never saw this coming.

Know Belcher did this, killed another person, but he was a nice guy. The last person you’d see doing this awful thing. Very confusing how Belcher would.

It has been pointed out by several, many fans not wanting to bust on these players as hard as some, that players are people.

Belcher leaves behind a young child as well.

Belcher was a quiet player in the locker room, small-school player who worked VERY hard.

Teammate and friend Derrick Johson called Belcher his “thumper”.

Tragic, tragic thing today for the Kansas City Chiefs and fans. We’re family, just the way it rolls in Kansas City.

This hurts all, makes Sunday’s game pretty much worthless. If the NFL had any feelings at all, they’d cancel giving players time to think, talk and cry over the loss of their friend and the family for their daughter. Need more than the few hours left in this day to figure out what just happened. Beyond any reality I’ve ever seen in football.

Playing a NFL game tomorrow would be too much WAY too soon for what we just experienced today, especially the family that lost their daughter. That’s honestly the real tragedy here.

Again, Chief Concerns heart goes out to all involved, to the community. Very sad day today for Kansas City.
