Matt Cassel gets booed...again

“Matt Cassel has done nothing to help the Chiefs. A good quarterback will be able to lead a team despite injuries”, said one fan in response to another defending Cassel being booed at the recent All-Star celebrity softball game.

Matt Cassel shrugged it off…again.

Can Cassel prove the boo-birds wrong?

The injuries Kansas City sustained last year were significant, but some feel the taunts were a message from fans to Cassel that average isn’t accepted.

Still, I don’t get it. Are fans that disgruntled with Cassel? Cassel’s becoming K.C.’s Frankenstein; anything he does gets mocked.

As a guy, team player, and community person Matt Cassel’s the player you want on the team. Whenever there’s an activity involving kids its Cassel leading the charge. Cassel’s a family man.

Always polite Cassel never puts down the fan or what others say about him. You never hear Cassel go there or lash out. At camp Cassel remains to sign shirts, footballs, and take pictures. Cassel walks the line and doesn't do anything to bring harm to the team or him. He’s a standup guy. Those close to him really like him.

I hear it from the Chiefs personnel people and those I talk to at the Chiefs practice facility. They’re sincere when they say they hope fans give Cassel a chance.

But in Cassel’s case he’s a nice guy that’s definitely finished last with most fans.

Matt Cassel hasn’t sold me, but booing him before training camp starts I think is silly. Many are convinced Cassel can’t win a Super Bowl. Several think he can’t win in the playoffs.

As long as Cassel is quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs it doesn’t matter if Kansas City has Jamaal Charles, Tamba Hali, re-signs Dwayne Bowe, or Tony Moeaki remains healthy…Matt Cassel stinks, always will stink, and there’s nothing Brian Daboll can do to change that.

Just the way it is and the ones who booed Cassel at the All-Star celebrity softball game wanted Cassel to know it.

Some think the negative talk about Dwayne Bowe from fans isn’t helping Bowe wanting to stay in Kansas City. Matt Cassel’s no different; the constant blows can wear a person down.

But Cassel’s doing a good job of not showing it. I give him props for that.

The difference between Bowe and Cassel is more want Bowe than Cassel. Cassel’s an easy punching bag, but he keeps smiling and telling fans he’s excited about the team and this season.

I don’t fault fans for wanting a solid team and a quarterback they can believe in. I do too.

If it isn’t Cassel I believe it’ll work itself out. I’m confident Scott Pioli will know when to walk, but there have been enough problems besides Cassel to give him another chance.

Chief fans could have handled the softball game and Cassel with more class, especially with the national media watching.

What’s the harm in rooting for Cassel and holding the peace? Does it hurt hoping for the best with Cassel as the starting quarterback this season?

I want the Chiefs to win, but that means Cassel has to be involved. That means Cassel has to do well. The team needs to do well. And when the 12th man cheers I think it should be for every member of the team, which includes Cassel.

Booing Cassel before training camp starts, before a single preseason game is played, and before the season I call extreme.

Let’s give Cassel a last chance.

Good day, Chiefs fans!
