Q: I allowed my 13 year old son to go over to a friend’s house last night (July 4th) to set off fireworks since I had to work. My son was badly injured when a firework exploded and burned parts of his shoulder, neck, and face. I am really not sure what happened but they took him to the ER and I'm sure the bills are going to be serious. I don't have insurance; if I get a lawyer can he get the bills paid for?
A: Sorry to hear about your son. Independence Day is a time when many accidents like this happen. It is going to be impossible to answer your question without knowing more facts. You need to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer immediately. Time is not on your side. You need to investigate what happened that caused your son to be injured while it is still fresh in people's minds so you know who to hold accountable. If the injury was the result of someone else's action then you may have an avenue to recover and get your son made whole again. If not you may be able to talk with the hospital and negotiate a payment system. You need to consult with an attorney that specializes in representing injured clients and do so quickly.
