Midwest Genealogy Center

Keeping the books, maps, microfilm, and fiche in the right places in the Midwest Genealogy Center is not for the faint of heart. Our employees, known as Pages here at MGC, form an unbeatable team. For instance, four of our Pages joined us after retiring from other places of employment. We are the benefactors of their years of experience. Currently, they are diligently indexing the Kansas City Star obituary books. They also help us by replacing damaged labels, finding lost books, and retrieving holds (books requested for check out by Library customers).

With keen eyes and a flair for the unusual, some of our Pages have set up book and periodical displays for us. They not only share their wealth of knowledge, but some have interesting private collections (such as teapots), which have been displayed here at MGC.

We share one of our workers with Headquarters, as she helps in delivery services. Another Page, a high school student, will be graduating this year, and as we are "family" here, we will celebrate that milestone with him. He will join the two Pages in our ranks who currently attend college.

The emphasis of these blogs has been to highlight the variety we have on our Page staff: ages (mid-eighties to teens); experiences (world travel to accounting/engineering studies); and interests (theater/music performance to baking). Don’t let these brief descriptions fool you. The Pages here at MGC truly add depth, flavor, interest, and diligence to bring you the best customer service any library can offer!
