The volunteers at the Midwest Genealogy Center are some of the best people in the area. They perform various tasks. One group is indexing many of our county histories, plat maps, and archival materials. This helps the public use these materials to their best advantage.
Another group, Greeters, spend four-hour shifts greeting people at the door, helping beginning researchers, and roving the building, giving staff members important assistance. The Special Events group helps out during the many large events we have at the Midwest Genealogy Center—the Juneteenth celebration, MGC Spring Seminar, Early Bird Lock-In, and the "Let Your Skeletons Dance" Lock-In. They are also a part of our outreach service as large groups come into the Center from schools and genealogy associations.
We also have consultants knowledgeable in many areas of genealogy. If you have reached a stopping point in your research, please ask for an appointment at the Information Desk or call MGC at 816.252.7228.
If you have some knowledge of genealogy and extra time on your hands, complete this volunteer application or pick one up at the Information Desk at the Midwest Genealogy Center.
