I Don't Have All of the Answers

I Don’t Have an Answer for That

Sometimes it’s good not knowing everything.  As I’ve stated before, Mavericks fans are wonderful……they want to know everything about the team.  On some occasions I am thankful I don’t have the answers to all of their questions, especially medical questions.

Other times fan questions help me become a better announcer.   Stats, histories and past teams of new players prompt me to dig deeper in my investigations.  Most of the time Patrick Armstrong supplies the info but on some occasion’s answers to their inquiries are not found in media notes.

A Mavs fan recently asked if newcomer Podge Turnbull is related to former St. Blues forward Perry Turnbull.  This led me to learn Podge is not related to Perry or former Toronto Maple Leaf forward Ian Turnbull.

Maverick fans want info immediately.   Upon arriving at the IEC after practice during a recent morning four fans met me in the parking lot asking why Dave Pszenyczny was not on the ice during the morning practice and if Austin Lee had returned to the team to replace a goalie who was about to be called up.

Missouri fans are understanding if I cannot give answers, or don’t have information.  They also know there are limits to the types of questions they ask.

When I was the voice of another CHL team a young lady continually hounded me for the phone number of her favorite player.  She also insisted I give him hers.  That’s one I did my best to stay out of.

Also while with this team two fans (a mother and daughter) saw me driving on the main street in their city.  Knowing I lived in the apartment complex which housed the players (I returned to Independence in the summers) they did a u-turn and followed me to learn the location of this complex.

Thinking of this and other past situations I would like to say a big thank you to Mavericks fans for your support of the team, for sending me plenty of questions but understanding that some inquiries must remain unanswered.

About this blog

>
As the "voice" of the Missouri Mavericks and William Chrisman Bears I watch the games from the best seat in the house...the gondola, or broadcast booth. Not only do I want this blog to be entertaining and informative, I also want it to be interactive. I look forward to reading your comments (positive and negative), answering your questions and learning of your experience.
